On Tuesday (in 40 degree heat!) the grade 2 students made the long voyage to Sovereign Hill in Ballarat to learn about what life was like in the olden days. We were able to play different games and learn about different objects from the past. In the afternoon we went looking for gold but didn't have any luck. Coming back to Holy Eucharist we realised how lucky we are to live in the year 2016.
In term 2 the children in grade 2 have been learning about science through our topic Mix, Make and Change. They have shown their learning about the three states of matter (solids, liquids and gases) by creating particle models using Cheerios. Ann from City West Water came to see the children and speak about the water cycle and how people use water. They developed a broader understanding of water in our lives and how important it is to conserve water. Children completed a jigsaw puzzle to show the journey of ‘The Natural Water Cycle’. Children are currently designing their own experiments to see how changes can occur when different substances are combine.
