Sacramental Program- First Communion
Grade 4 is an exciting year for the children at Holy Eucharist, as they have the opportunity to choose to make their First Holy Communion. This year we visited the National Gallery of Victoria to prepare and reflect on this important sacrament. We went on a guided tour of the gallery and viewed many different pieces of religious art. The guide lead rich discussion about the context and symbols in the artworks and explained the importance of art in the catholic tradition. It was a memorable day full of wonder and discovery.
When we returned the students were given the task of analysing a religious artwork with a Eucharistic theme and recreated the artwork in their own style. The students enjoyed showing off their creative skills and making their own meaningful religious artwork. We look forward to displaying them in our gallery soon!
