In Grade 3, students continue to develop their numeracy and literacy skills. They build on what they have already learned and begin to understand more difficult concepts. Students in Grade 3 take part in the National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). It is an annual assessment for students in Year 3, 5, 7 and 9 that cover skills in reading, grammar, writing, spelling, punctuation and numeracy.
Grade 3 students are prepared to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. In preparing children for the sacrament they, attend a workshop with their family and explore the sacrament through regular Religious Education lessons.
In Grade 3, the Holy Eucharist Camping program moves a step further, where children are invited to a sleepover at school in preparation for Grade 4 camp. As a year level, children eat dinner, participate in night time activities, sleep in their classrooms and eat breakfast together in the morning. This experience gives students an opportunity to develop their independence and teamwork skills.
